    Default Orange City Fire, California

Be on the lookout for this announcement if you are interested:

City of Orange, CA - DisplayNews

I have a question for brothers or aspiring firefighters: is there a trend in accepting NFPA Firefighter 1 and or 2 in lieu of the CA state firefighter 1 certification? I noticed this is the second FD in Southern California requiring either one of the two this year.

    Thanks!

    enginetercera,
Thanks for the heads up! I've never seen where they will accept either CA certs or NFPA. Would be nice if this was the trend though seeing as I don't live in CA and none of my certs are from there.

only accepting 800 apps and cutting down to 100.

Have a feeling they'll be taking mostly medics but who knows. I am going to apply anyways.
    Best of luck to everyone.

Thanks indeed. Looks like a nice city. I put an app in, will see if it makes the cut. The EMT-1 is the only grey area, I followed the links to the OC EMS agency and it looks as though a National Registry EMT-B would be able to get reciprocity fairly easy, we'll see what fire admin says.

Gotta no something by Mon-Tue, they are doing the written on the 16 of this month, not alot of time for someone out of state to muster a ticket, guess thats the idea, keep it local.

Good luck out there, Bravo 6 out.

City of orange is pretty small...
And they have a reserve/volunteer program.

I would imagine they may know who they want already. Wouldn't be surprised if they hired from within and/or medics. I mean, I know they have to pass the test and what not but you guys know what I am saying.....

    Anyways, great department.

I put an app in. Im from out of state. I really don't know if it's worth the trips out but you never know...

No dice, guess NREMT is not the same as EMT-1. Good luck to the locals.

Check your email. Results should be out and if you passed you should be allowed to schedule your interview.

Here in CA if you have your NREMT-B you can go to a county agency and put in an application for your EMT-1 which is basically an EMT-B.
