Exactly. If your department has that kind of money, please tell them to send some of it to my department. We will be more than happy to take it. We don't even have enough radios and pagers for active interior members let alone juniors.
Ok. Thanks. I will ask the commanding officer tomorrow if I'll respond because 15 year olds can that I was told. Were trained on hydrants,ladders,etc..
I have an honest question, can you use a SCBA tank w/ mask with contacts?
YOU CAN'T. It is against child labor laws.
Get your hot popcorn here. Cold beer here and for our younger crowd - grape lolipop.
Well, I mean, if he doesn't have a pager how will he know when his table is ready?
Don't let these guys bully you little bro. Get that pager, listen to the various calls. Picture where each incident is. When you're ready, and old enough, you will be able to respond. It's not your fault that your department most likely got a SAFER grant and purchased too many pagers. It's not your fault that some white shirt decided to give them to everyone.
So accept the pager, throw ladders, open hydrants, roll hose, clean under the running boards, you can do this!!
Whats with the age requirement anyway? They should lower that standard, volunteers need all the help they can get, even if it's just a 15 year old.
They make eye glass kits for scba mask that work very well.
Do they make them for guys who can't wear scba's?
Okay let's recap this train wreck...
junior22 comes on and asks which pager he should take as a 14 year old junior firefighter.
First he says he won't be responding.
Then he says at 15 he says he can respond.
Then he asks about contacts and scba.
I want to apologize to you.
Whether I believe your story or not is irrelevant I was unnecessarily rude to you.
Good luck in your career in the fire service.
junior22 I have a question- when you are allowed to respond at 15, will you have a blue light on your bicycle, and if so, what kind??
You cannot respond to the station with a bicycle. You can respond at 14 with caution though. It all complys with the child labor laws, that's why we get pagers.
It was something like they don't advise you to,but you may. Our rules our like this. http://upperleacockfire.org/documents/sog/Ch.17.pdf
This fire department allows junior firefighters (who are specifically prohibited from interior ops) to run blue lights.
That is all.
