    Default Ethanol free fuels

Anyone using the TruFuel product 50:1 mix for their saws or any other non-ethanol mixes? Pro's Con's?

We've been using a similar product, SEF94, in both our mix engines as well as our 4-stroke engines. We've noticed they're quicker to start and fewer maintenance issues as a result. In the past, our problems were mostly gummed up carburetors and fuel going bad. This stuff has a 2 year shelf-life and the containers are easier to keep stocked on a rig. Prior to using the SEF brand, we were using Motomix (Stihl's version).

I use the stuff at home in my garden equipment. I still run regular gas in my mowers but the weedeater, tiller, leaf blower and chainsaw all run it.

Only real cons we've encountered thus far would be the cost and reminding our members to keep the different fuels seperate. Since they both come in cans, we had a few guys put 4-stroke fuel in the K-saw. Luckily it was noticed before they ran the saw. Since then we got the ol magic marker out and wrote on the cans as to which motor to use them on. Its not like can doesn't say "50:1" and "4 Stroke", and are different colors to begin with.

We just started using Stihl Motomix and so far so good. We keep the quart cans on the trucks. As mentioned above, the only down side is cost. But I will gladly pay a few hundred a year for pre mixed fuel if it means the saws stay running and out of the shop.

The engineering staff at our place is pushing to move over to it. We have thoroughly questioned manufacturer reps of our rescue tools and saws, and everyone says they wont deny warranty claims if we use it. Now its just a matter of convincing the bean counters.

We just moved to using these for all small engines, saws, power packs and generators. No real noticeable difference now, but we this is a response to having a Homatro an Stihl saw both need fuel system work, both cited the pump fuel.

A lot of it has to do with how long your fuel sets in the tank too. At work we use pump gas and regular mix oil. It gets ran through the equipment enough to where we don't have near the issues we had at the volunteer department. Our small engines get cranked once a week at best there.

We have been using the SEF fuel in our saws and small engines for about a year. We haven't had many issues and you can bring the cost curve down a little by buying the 5 gallon pails to refill the metal quart cans carried on the trucks

We have used avation fuel for years - never a problem and it fooled the old wisconsin engine into acting like a Honda.

We too use Stihl MotoMix. Even the local Ace Hardware carries it which makes it simple to restock for us. Has a two year shelf life, even with an open can. Saws run great with it. No mixing anything. Just pour it in. Worth every penny with no Ethanol issue and no worries of a wrong mix.
