Speeding ticket

This morning I had a panel interview about an hour from my house. So I left about an hour an fourty five min early. On my way to the interview I hit just about every single red light, was stopped at 5-6 construction zones which delayed me quite a bit. So needless to say the time of my interview was fast approaching and not knowing exactly where i was going entered a 45mph zone going 60mph b/c i had looked down at my GPS. When I looked up i noticed the sign and slowed but it was too late. The Cop gave me a ticket and it carries four points. This is my first and only time being pulled over and I am just curious if this will hinder my chances of getting a job in the Fire Department.

It shouldn't as long as you are honest when it comes to your backround investigation.

Hate to break it to you but it hindered me for quite a bit. They have to find something to hire a little from a lot. However, it doesn't mean that EVERY department is going to be picky...

When you get to court speak to the police officer before the hearing and see if he's be willing to drop it down to something lower in exchange for a guilty plea. Four points is a lot, never mind the fact a potential firefighting job could be riding on it.........

Also, if it is your truly your 1st and only traffic ticket the D.A. should drop it enough so that it will not show up on your insurance. If they do drop it down to just 9 over the posted speed limit, it should not be that big of a deal with the FD. Good Luck.
