Default AFG Financial Needs Section Question from Newbie

OK, like other departments I'm sure, Dwindeling donations and rising costs have made us dip deeper into the budget then we want to. Last year a bunch of unexpected and expensive truck repairs made us spend a few grand more then we took in to cover bills, leaving us negative for the year.
Does the AFG budget question have to do with our general budget for this year? or what we spent money on and took in last year? I'm afraid showing the reviewers that we were negative for the the year will look like financial irresponsibility and they wont want to give us any money. ???????????

You need to present an accurate picture but remember you are not just putting down your budget figures. There will be a narrative also and in that narrative you should explain the unexpected truck repairs. Not a bad idea to quote what a three year average budget is for you to show the stability of the department but, #@$% happens and the reviewers will know that.

Also be certain to include your local ecomonic conditions, the reviewers know the economic health of the country, but your local problems go along way with the reviewers in justifying the financial need.

Thank you gentelmen. Our local problems along with a $0.07 cost estimate hopefully work towards our benefit. I just didn't want to loose it over some costly repairs, and what looks like poor accountablity on paper.
