Volunteer Opportunities
I have posted previously about looking for departments around Orlando that will take volunteers that are FF1/FF2 and I know the results weren't very favorable. However I am wondering if anyone knows of any EMS departments that allow volunteers as first responders. A few years ago I volunteered as a first responder/driver with a strictly EMS squad and loved it. I know that pretty much all departments are now combined FF and EMS but are there any squads that are only EMS that take volunteers? Also, what about dispatcher jobs or volunteer dispatching. I have experience as a dispatcher. I looked for jobs for dispatchers in the Orlando area but they seem to be very scarce. I have experience as a volunteer firefighter, first responder/driver, and dispatcher and loved doing all three and would like to find a department in Central Florida where I can volunteer again. Are there any places that allow Certified Medics to volunteer near Central Florida? For example, a volunteer EMS Rescue Squad or Auxiliary. Or any counties/local fire rescues that will let individuals who are certified paramedics volunteer on an ambulance and not have to be FFI/II? Thanks.
