Classification

I have a question for Brian, Kurt, or others amoung the well informed here. We need to replace some hose and get some additional hose due to additional needs for things like high rise packs and additional trucks that need cross lays. If I say I need (for illustration) 20 sections of hose 10 new, never owned and needed for basic mission AND 10 to repalce old, worn, obsolete hose over 10 years...or should I just try to keep it to one category? Last year I put some in each category and in polishing application I am just wondering if I am better in one category. In the narrative I did say we need to replace old obsolete unsafe hose, replace hose that burst during testing and additional hose to meet current needs, etc.

In AFG "additional" should never equate to "extra or spare", which AFG will not fund. Justify the need for it and if the need is justifed correctly they will fund it.:)

i agree with Kurt, But remember to keep it simple and not a big math problem to figure out how much hose you need and what for. You have a good start on justifaction by what you stated. Justify, keep it simple and to the point then you should be alright.

Allow me to rephrase. If we NEED 20 sections and 10 we own are bad and we need 10 more to meet our basic needs, when I come to question 4 in details should I make 2 entries and say I need 10 sections because "The equipment is necessary for the organization's basic mission, but has never been owned before" and 10 because "The equipment will replace old, obsolete or substandard equipment currently owned." which is the actual case...or simplify it by citing old worn out hose in the narrative and say we need 20 sections because "The equipment will replace old, obsolete or substandard equipment currently owned." because it is simpler and only one entry.
