    Question Hero-Xt fire helmet?

I was going through my Fire House magazine the other day and I noticed an ad for the "European style" fire helmet the Hero-XT.

    http://www.shop.jeffersonfire.com/Ro...-ROS-15688.htm

That is the link above, they say it meets NFPA 1971, 2007 Edition. I think it would be almost impossible to get rid of the more "traditional" style fire helmet that everyone knows and loves (Ben II, 1010, etc.) But, at the same time I do think it looks kind of neat. I was curious if anyone has it, or knows of any departments in the US using this model?

EDIT: I tried to upload a couple pictures off of the their website, but I'm not sure if it worked...

Quick bump: So I take it that no one uses this helmet state side on here? I saw a guy in West Hartford CT using it via firenews.org. I saw that the most recent thread was the Rosenbaur HERO Helmet back in 2003. ...i figured by now someone else has seen this helmet out there.

Ive never used one, but if it was issued to me at no cost to myself, i'd gladly wear that!
The small design looks safe, and comfortable...

A neighboring department is issuing them more and more. I have some issues with them....

    1. Nothing prevents hot water/tar/crap to go down between your neck and collar.
    2. You can't hear very well with the helmet covering your ears.
    3. It is ugly as as sin!

I know Eagan, MN is in the process of switching over to the Heros XT. I was able to find some photos of them in use.

Looking at the photos, it appears that there are no issues with using them with a SCBA and it looks like there is good protection for the neck. Also was able to find this video of the fire chief explaining that they are in the process of switching all 100 firefighters over to the Heros helmet.

Well, got to admit one function it might be useful for... delivering a baby; the full face shield and the little OB/GYN flash light might be usefull.

If I wanted to wear a motorcycle helmet, I'd buy a motorcycle helmet.

Hell the feds are trying to copy Europe's style of an economy, which is working out great by the way. Why shouldn't the fire service try out their "cool" helmets?
