    Default medical disqualifier?

    One calf is skinnier then my other one sense my club foot surgery when i was a baby, it is corrected now, but one calf is still skinnier then the other. i can still run, jump. climb etc. and pass the agility test. Can i be still cleared for hire? thanks a ton

    I really don't see why it would make a difference if you can pass all tests. During the physical tests, you would be wearing long pants anyway. By all means be honest on your app and you should have nothing to worry about.

    Go forth and test at every dept till you get hired

    I agree that it should not be a problem, especially with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I would check with your local fire department just to be sure. Also, I would go to your personal physician (a specialist is even better) and get a letter stting there is no physical limitations to you becomming a firefighter. This letter usually trumps a City medicl exam doctor. Good luck to you!

    I think you should be ok as long as you can pass the physical agilities testing. If your familiar with NFPA, NFPA 1500 lists medical disqualifiers as well as medical conditions that are acceptable as long as you meet certian criteria if that makes sense. I'm not very familiar with standard. I think you'll be ok. Hope that helps and good luck.
