My SAM registration was rejected because our FD already has a CAGE code under a different DUNS number (one I didn't know existed). Yay.

Today a get a notice that it didn't like my number I put in the Duns+4 box, but I couldn't move on without putting something in the box I called the helps desk and a after 57 minutes of being on hold, all they could tell me that they need to send my request for assitance to Tier2

I hate to see what happens if I go to triple mad!

I used to joke, back when I was good at this grant writing, that if we didn't get awarded first or second round, I'd just politely refuse it. Seven rounds in and no word on our regional communications grant and I'm feeling like a washed up, punch drunk fighter, desperate for a win. Going over it in my head--where did I go wrong? Greedy not needy? Laundry list? Not enough calls? Asking for the Cadillac of equipment? Or God forbid, poor writing by a once proud grant warrior? Should have retired gracefully while I was on top....

Regional commo apps are even slower this year than last, other than an all-portable one I heard wind of there hasn't been any movement involving major radio apps. Since they have to go to the states for approval on top of being recommended for award there's an additional delay in 1199A progress. Last year's that we worked didn't show until January with February awards so should see some progress on these soon.

Should be any week now for our SCBAs. Got my 1199 back in November; got that finished right away and FINALLY got my SAM fiasco straightened out yesterday. Fingers crossed!

    Default Same thought nicoyaspa

Started at 5 for 5 after I took over the grant writing, then 3 goose eggs before landing a communication grant last year.

The three goose eggs were for various forms of water supply grants that I just haven't been able to get funded. Serious thinking about next year doing a regional grant for the same to get all the departments in our county using the same appliances in water shuttles.

Mitchkrat - if it is in the same county, I would include something along this line.... "in the past we even had a major HAZMAT issue at one of our local nuclear missile silos" No need to mention it was in 78.......

Yeah but you can't put enough hose on 6 pumpers to be able to lay a line to that one with me on the pumper. Glowing in the dark isn't on my bucket list...well maybe not permanently, could be fun on Halloween for a bit to scare some kids or wander around in some woods. "Look everyone, a glow in the dark Sasquatch...."

Interesting timing Bryan- just had a call with a company that is going to be offering PPE suits for EMS/FFs that shields/protects against gamma radiation for those very circumstances.

Hope they don't test those the same way as shark bite suits....

"Billy Bob, we need you to step into this chamber and get exposed to gamma radiation."
"well alright, just hold my sign so nothing happens to it"
