    Default SOP/Policy on wearing shorts

Does anybody have an SOP or policy in regards to wearing BDU type shorts while on duty? If you do...could you please email me a copy of it to BrianMRobertson@gmail.com or post it here to the forum. If you also know of anyone who has done any research and/or testing in regards to shorts and the health of firefighters during the summer, please let me know.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

I know Boston, Lynn and Brookline Fire (up here in MA) can wear shorts. I tried looking at firesops.com to see if they had a uniform policy up. My department just recently said we could wear our T shirts instead of our 5.11 polo shirts or button down blouse in the summer.

I think your best bet would be either Boston, Lynn, of Brookline Mass firefighter on this forum. I'll see if I can track down something for you too.

I work at a small department and we can wear shorts, but if we have a call we are required to wear bunker pants.

Memorial Day to Labor Day shorts are allowed. polo shirt must be worn with shorts.

For EMS calls, unless they involve an MVA or some type of industrial accident, shorts are allowed without bunkers. If it is an MVA or industrial type accident bunkers must be worn.
