I have an oral board with Kent Fire Department in two weeks. HR stated they are hiring 5 entry-level. I know Kent is a growing department with 8 stations and a killer training program. Most oral boards I have taken were for one position or an eligibility list. Is there a certain way to approach an oral board where a department is hiring a class of 5? Any information on the culture of this department would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you

Do you know how many there are interviewing? Congrats Kent is a great department. Make sure your solid on your oral board questions and you know a lot about the department. Isn't it the Kent Fire Authority now? I know they are expanding and taking over more and more. Only thing I know is that they have a pretty tough probation.

There are interviewing 20. You're correct, it is the Kent Regional Fire Authority covering Covington and KCFD 37. I hear they have a tough probation as well. I'm feeling pretty solid on the Oral Board, but continuing to practice.

Did Kent do their own testing or did they go through NTN or Bates?

Why should they hire you?
1/4 chance, great odds! What will set you apart from the others?
Good luck!

What did you all score on Pub Safety to get an interview with Kent? I just took it and i got a 93.8 and im debating even taking a CPAT knowing that most get 99's on this test. It was only my second time with public safety as im banking on the BATES and National test. I finally got Job scores on those.

Congrats on the good scores on Bates and National. I haven't heard of 93.8 getting an oral in this economy but keep taking it and your job score will come. Anyone here make it to backgrounds with Kent?
