Sending a Bill to COMED or NICOR

When there is an electrical or gas emergency such as a transformer on fire or an outside gas leak does anyone send an invoice to the utility for the FD resources?

It seems to me they should have to pay for services rendered. Just like we charge non residetns for car fires/accidents and haz mat incidents.

Do they respond to your incidents, such as gas leaks, pull meters???

If so wonder what they charge you???

Absolutely they respond. The difference is the equipment they are securing is THEIR equipment (pulling meter, down wires, gas leak) and they are required to provide for it's safe operation.

So, just like we bill for haz mat call, auto accidents, car fires........ has anyone heard of billing the utilities?

I guess how does pulling a meter secure their equipment ???

They save the meter???

More then likely they would tell you do not call if given the choice

Isn't removing electricity more fire fighter safety???

Down wires and gas leaks they have to come out anyway

I guess send them a bill and see what happens
