The City of San Antonio will be accepting firefighter trainee applications from 9/3/12 THRU 9/7/12.

Looks like this year they will be taking online applications. Previous years you had to physically go to the academy to fill out a paper application.

Last year I was really thrown off by the addition of the behavioral section of the exam. I scored alot higher on the cognitive section. The behavioral section being worth more didn't help either. Oh well.

The city's 4,034 firefighters and police officers have a different insurance plan. Health insurance for them and their dependents is covered 100 percent by the*city.

I'm going to be flying in from Arizona if I can get the days off.
Also spoke to a lady in the application processing department and she said no certs are required at all really. That they start you from scratch with their FD. Don't know if that helps anyone.

Having Certs in the SAFD wont give you an advantage over anyone else. So what you heard AzGuy is true. There is no fast tracking or anything like that. Everyone goes through training just the same. If you have experience or certs you will have an advantage over your peers in terms of learning and training. And if your cert is in texas, you dont have to sit for the state exam at the end of training. Same goes for your EMT cert.
