I'll definitely be applying for this one, I have heard nothing but good things about RFD. Anyone have any info to salary, cost of living, and how busy they are?

Do you need any certifications prior to applying?
What are the disqualifiers?
Did any of you that have asked questions, take the time to go to the link provided and look and see? Most if not all questions are answered somewhere in there.
Cpt. Yes sir looked at the city web site. Looked at the union page. Googled it. Called the recuiting office. This is a last resort.

One of the few departments I have seen with a minimum age of 21.
Do they run fire/medics? And is there any preference for medics?
does anyone know the actual dates for physical and written?
RFD, I found most of my answers in older threads... but, still curious as to how busy it is down there. I know like anywhere, from company to company the answer can change, but do people looking start a career there have a decent shot of being busy and running a decent bit of fire?
I hear they are using a different written test, does anyone have any info about it ?
We're a diverse city, and so are our companies. Thursday I worked and we ran 19, for a Ladder Company we rolled.
But, other parts of the City may have gone out 2 times.
Durham sees a good bit of fire, but their process just closed. We see our share, but we're bigger and more spread out.
Engine 29 and Engine 30 are in the works, as well as Ladder 9 and Ladder 10. We are in the process of re-organizing to a Special Operations Command set-up, and will be putting a Heavy Rescue Unit staffed with five, and two Squad Companies in service around January or so. Lots of changes going on, and the city is growing like a weed.
