You are definitely correct, we have already applied for a state grant since then. It is funny what a new fire chief can do for a volunteer organization. Our department has never applied for a grant before at any level. We just relied on fundraisers and our county to supply what we needed. Now in the last year with a new fire chief we have upgraded a lot of equipment on now are starting to work on grants. I think we got more lucky than anything because I was assigned to write the grant. I was told a week before it was due that we should try to write this grant. I would actually like to try to attend a class somewhere to learn what to put in these grant applications. So if anyone would know of anything in the Midwest somewhere I would we willing to travel quite a ways.

So how long after getting a phone call from the senators office do you guys think it will take to get the official award letter. We have a meeting tonight and do you think I could let everyone know that we got approved for a grant. Only the chief and myself even know that we applied. Or is there any chance we may not get the money. In case you guys did not figure this out I have no idea what we are doing in regards to this grant. I think they felt sorry for us and approved it.

The waiting for my 1199 to show up for my compressor is just killing me!!! Starting to loose hope for the compressor again this year... C'mon FEMA, Chief has cylinders that need filling!

As we are approaching nearly $200,000,000 in funds awarded, that means close to 70% of the funding has been publicly announced and we do know there are more awards pending. I wouldn't think that there will be too much more chatter over upcoming 1199As other than a few dozen that may still be able to fund with whatever funding has not yet been allocated.

Likewise, SAFER appears to have awarded more than 80% of allocated funding.

By my math, there have already been more AFG awards issued at this point in the FY2012 cycle this year than all of the FY2011 cycle.

I'm guessing we will see a few more trickling, but wouldn't hold my breath on alot. Already starting to work on 2013.

At FDIC last week the FEMA folks said at their session they had about 800 or so awards left in the hopper.

Just got told a 1st timer for SCBA found one too. Update with no email so was some time today. Guess I'll have something to do at drill weekend while on restricted duty from the back injury. Gee, 39 y/o doing room clearing ops with 17-21 y/o kids, I wonder how I ended up getting hurt...

To that I say, nay-nay. Haven't been hurt to the point I couldn't participate in something since sophomore year in HS when I got the 3rd degree sprained ankle. All I can do is sit around being the PowerPoint advancer or equipment guard sitting in the drill hall. Bored out of my freaking mind....
