Well let me save everyone a lot of clicking and checking.. Nothing new there as of 10:00AM EST.I just went through my whole list of clients.

It is not going to surprise me and I am pretty certain we are going to see a couple of weeks without anything happening as far as awards and or 1199a updating going on because of the FY2011-12 closeout approaching next week and the new FY2012-13 budget being started up. Typically we have seen this happen in the past; I mean think about it? How many of you complain about closing out just 1 grant; can you imagine what it is like to close the books out on the Federal grant system and $68 billion dollars in grants that are given away annually? I don't think we will see any further 2012 AFG or SAFER activity till around mid October. Patience Grasshopper!

utfd, the order isn't related to anything. It has to do with the indexing on the database, lag times, etc. Usually they'll show up in the same order each time, but since it's most likely a server farm setup the data is spread across more than one database. So when the request is made the data return comes back in different orders. Pays to have/be a nerd sometimes.

Interestingly, I just found one dated 9/14/12 that was certainly not in the initial batch.

I've found plenty of 1199's over the years but never found them dated. Where did you see the date? Just wondering what I'm missing.

I suspect it was a first time awardee and they received a "update 1199a" message which would have been dated.

Have they dumped any more 1199's lately? Really looking for our airpack grant to go through this time. Made it all the way through the last time (at least we believe so) and just wasn't awarded.

There has not been any further movement on 1199A's since the initial batch. Since it's the end of the fiscal year there will not be much movement with the AFG in regards to awards for about 2-3 weeks as they change over to FY13.

Should see some activity with 1199s this week if they are going to start back by end of October?
    Fingers tightly crossed.

I received a call from FEMA about a month ago on our SCBA app. There was a discrepancy between the narrative and the computer app for our number of active firefighters. The rep from FEMA didn't make it sound like it was a big deal.

We made it to peer review last year, so I'd have to think our chances would be pretty good this year without all those narrowbanding grants. This is the fourth attempt, third for SCBAs. Luck has to change sooner or later.

Don't recall it being this quite in here before. Someone always had something to say.

Always gets quiet around now because of the fiscal year change. Plus was a stutter step to get some awards out before Sep 30th to make Congress happy, so would imagine they're all behind the scenes playing catch-up with data entry and other fun admin stuff. Probably a good amount of paper apps to deal with because of the short app period and warning so they'd have to be integrated into the online system somehow. So doubt we'll see much forward progress for at least another 2 weeks, but at least once that's done they can keep the flow going until the money is gone.

I agree Chief but to their credit, this delay is not AFG admins fault at this point. We need to be looking at a lame duck Congress who took an early recess and is still not at work as they are too all consumed with trying to ensure they still have a job 2 weeks from now.

All the more reason why a buttload of them do NOT need to have a job two weeks from now.

The election and the end of the federal fiscal year should not be so close together. That's probably not a fixable problem, but I choose to bark about it anyway.

Not that is changes anything but I feel it is important to establish a contact person in each of your elected officials office. Speak to them on a regular basis, even if you do not need anything. Call them when they do something you agree with, call them when you disagree as well. Always be professional and respectful, build a rapport. Again this probably will change nothing, but you will at least establish credibility with your employee.

There's all the political fun, and then there's the part about having apps to enter in the system between the paper apps, plus there are supposedly apps still to be Peer Reviewed since they didn't finish way back when. Mostly paper apps since more came in than expected with the shortened online app period, and they don't want to start giving money away when some of the apps that haven't been reviewed might outscore those in line. Peer process in the works to bring some folks in for a couple of days and finish it all off since they want it back on track before FP opens. But still should see some movement anyway, can't imagine them giving away that much dough if they stick to the highest scoring apps and just run it on a slow leak until the other stuff is handled.

Does anyone have an idea of how many applications AFG received for equipment and vehicles this time around? Perhaps a better chance for some of us to get funded this year..............
Looking for 12 SCBA's here this time around.

I submitted an ops grant at 3:46pm Eastern time on the last day (i.e., 1 hour and 14 minutes to go) and it was numbered in the 6500 range. That's the lowest I've seen on final-day ops submissions, but of course the paper apps are the unknown.

Found these numbers from a previous thread, I heard there were about 12K total apps this year, not sure of the exact breakdown.

    FV-03793 4:20 Eastern
    FO-07174 approx 4:58 Eastern

I believe there were just shy of 12,000 total apps initially submitted plus a little over 700 paper applications received after computer submissions.
