If last year's history repeats itself, the first 1199As would drop on Friday, September 6th.

Won't be too long, Tech Reviews were done during Peer for anything with composite score of 95 or higher since there's no doubt they'd be funding. Tech is still going on this week for others, about 700 left to go through Peer Review. Some phone calls are being made to clarify projects for eligible expenditures. Looks like regionals are taking top billing on a lot of fronts again but electronic scoring did help the smaller folks too. Awards have to start by the end of the month so definitely possible to see 1199As by this Friday.

How do you find out what you scored?

Pretty happy with some feedback so far, popped a 100 on a regional SCBA, 99.17 composite on another regional training. Clients asked when they got phone calls to clarify some things in their apps and it was passed on to them somehow, and they let me know. Some are being fed through their Congressional contacts I would imagine.

I'm sure I have some channels I could ring and bother folks about scores but don't have that kind of time. Hardly have time to keep up with the lawn with the research and other grant apps we've got sitting here, as much as some folks think AFG and public safety apps are all we do.

Some of the overall info is coming back from various Peer Reviewers, some of it from other conversations I've had asking about generalities in the program. Nothing different than the various lobbying arms are doing for the national orgs involved, I just use the info to put together the articles and stuff so everyone can have a heads up. Like the fact that once again, identical narratives are coming through Peer and all are getting tanked. Hard to be talking about yourself when others have the same narrative....

From your intell can you determine how top heavy awards will be with regionals from a number or dollar amount? Hopefully it won't be like last year where there was almost nothing left for non regional / non communications grants.

We've had folks get contacted about a range of projects so far, both regional and individual. Even a few SAFER R&Rs which is surprising this early in the game since I've only had a couple peeps on hiring apps so far. They're busting hump to get things going before this month is out from what I understand so shouldn't be too long. Don't forget to start planning 2013s, AFG is going to be back in the Spring. Waiting on a written version of a telephone conversation I had yesterday, but we'll be putting out a nice announcement shortly that will ease wallets everywhere. And no, since I'm not on some remote island posting this, I didn't win the lottery....

It has been a long time, is there anything to look for on a first time award? Will it show up as an 1199?

Oh bartender start pouring me a few; I have somne very happy campers out there this evening. BTW a single, small, rural, all volunteer department running 103 total calls had a ref award number in there for STOs. So contrary to popular belief... yes Virgina, there is a Granta Claus for smaller rural VFDs and they do in fact win.

    Nothing yet for ours....

Brian, are you sure there is only about 700 apps left for a second round of Peer? I thought it was going to be more like 2,000 or more.

I started the day in Nashville, and have been running ever since. Maybe I am just too tired, but what is an STO?

That figure Brian posted is accurate on the number of applications still needing PR.

Wonder if the 1199A's will be sent out a few everyday or mass dumped every now and then?
