The Board of the Fire and Police Commission of the City of Mt. Vernon, Illinois is seeking applicants for the position of Firefighter to establish an eligibility list. Starting salary is approximately $45,700 per year (including holiday pay) with City benefits package. Information regarding the position, salary, benefits and testing date and time is included in the application packet.

Prerequisites:
  • high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • between the ages of 21 and 35 years on date of test, or meet Illinois Public Act 97-0251 previous employment requirements
  • U.S. citizen
  • valid driver’s license
