Nothing beats a pair of Wells Lamont truckers gloves with the cinch strap on the wrist. You can get a 3 pack at Costco for under $20
I prefer the ones that look like skeleton hands.
Nice Storage Wars reference. 1 internet point for you.
A little off topic, but I purchaced a pair of the new style Ringer hybrid extrication gloves. The entire palm and fingers are covered with one piece of kevlar... I have had a few times when glass or metal punctured the old style between the kevlar patches. The new ones are great.

I like mechanix gloves myself
I chuckled and shot a Lucky Charm out of my nose when I first read this. You might be in luck, I'm left handed and I buy XL. They seem to stretch out perfect. So the left glove gets beat up first. Either that or I manage to kick one off of the step exiting the cab at 0200 and don't see it when I climb back in. Can't rule out glove gnomes either. Those little bastards probably have 20 left hand gloves with my DID number on them.
I find that a good pair of all leather work gloves dioes the trick for me.
I keep one pair for brush fires and overhaul, and another pair (clean) for technical rescues and extrication.
I just buy a pair from harbor fright or a simliar store for less than 10 dollars. They last 6 months or so and then time for new ones. No need to get anything fancy.
