im involved in a recruitment process, in which Ive submitted an application, resume and cover letter, and have 'passed' a written test. I received a letter stating I was invited to a 'screening'. In speaking to the department's secretary, she stated it was not a fire board type interview, but that I was meeting the members of the department. My question is to I go suit, tie, dress shirt, etc, or Maybe something more semi casual, like a polo shirt and khakis? Any other advice? Thanks in advance!

Unless otherwise stated; suit.
Dress like you want the job.
Showing up in less will be noticed and equated to you not being serious enough to take the initiative to show them you want the job.
Good luck!

You can never go wrong by being dressed in a suit and tie. You might be over dressed, but that's ok. It makes for a good first impression.
