How to apply for wildland?

Hi yall I live in Florida and have my s190 and other basic wildland certs.
How does one go about applying for a basic position?
I was told USAjobs.com but It's kinda of confusing because theirs so many different things to apply for.

USAjobs is one, and yes very confusing. Welcome to government work. Also for USFS jobs you need to go to AVUE.

Try search terms like forestry technician.

AVUE is gone (well its still there but we are not using it anymore). As of October 1st, 2012 we are using eRecruit which is supposed to be fully compatable with USAJOBS. Sorry I can't tell you much more at this time, but I don't get training in the new system until November.

USAJOBS will list positions with all 5 Federal Land management agencies (US Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish & Wildlife and Bureau of Indian Affairs).

You want to search for Series 0455 Range Technician and 0462 Forestry Technician. These are very broad categories so you will find lots of non-fire jobs mixed in with the fire jobs. Look at the job announcement very carefully, the 2013 announcements probably will not come out until November, but there is often overlap between the previous year and the upcoming year. I have had people contact me for jobs only to find out they had accidently applied to the previous years announcement and are not on the current list.
