I'll be starting with a dept in Florida in the next couple days and just wouldn't mind a heads up on what goes on generally in the 3-4 week training period? It's 8am - 5pm five days a week for about a month. Any pointers on things I need to brush up on?

it doesn't hurt to start studying. They will probably be using the IFSTA 5th Edition book. also make sure you are in good shape.. a lot of guys end up so physically exhausted during academy that they don't have the energy to study.... just noticed you are starting in the next couple days, its probably a little too late for all that... look around online for practice tests and ifsta 5th edition study guides, they will help a lot!!

I'm sorry I should have been a little more detailed. We do things a little different down here. I have already been through fire academy which was a 25 week period of about 20 hours a week. After academy you can send out your resumes and get picked up by a department who simply puts you through their own quick training. I just wanted to know from anyone else who has gone through a similar situation what this training was like. If there are certain things they expect you to have down already?
