    Default Psych Eval Didn't Feel So Good

    Hey Everyone,

    This is my first thread on here so please bear with me. I just received a conditional offer from my dream department about a month ago. Just had my last step, the psych eval, about 2 business days ago. Guys from the department have been telling me to expect the shrink to be pretty confrontational and try to get a reaction out of you. Well, to say the least, he did just that however did not get any reactions out of me. Either way, I left there not feeling too great about how the whole thing went down. Just need to ease my nerves and my mind. Anybody else out there go through an eval where the shrink was similar to mine? What was the outcome? From some of my other friends in the fire service, it sounds like there's 2 different types of shrinks: the overly nice one and the confrontational one. Both equally as dangerous....

    Thanks all!

    Sounds like you may have gone in there with a mind sit already, which may have not helped you

    You should be ok, as long as you did not sound to crazy

    You should have posted prior to the testing ;;;

    I have done all of the cpt bob prep stuff and don mcnea study guide so i've been through the eatsstress.com deal quite a bit. the questions were all very straight forward and simple to answer so i don't really feel bad about any particular question. maybe im just working myself up since i won the lottery but don't want to lose my ticket...

    Well i just got the e-mail. I start the academy Oct. 9. Apparently the psych really WAS meant to be an awful experience!!! To anyone else still trying to find that dream job. It's out there, you just have to bust your balls everyday to get it!! It WILL happen.

    The psych test is not a day at the beach. Being prepared before you show up can make the difference. It did for you.

    Welcome to the fire service.
