I have to appeal this week and I'm nervous. I was given points for admitting to smoking marijuana 10yrs ago and failed a employment drug test.

Were you given a drug test recently, or both things 10 years ago? What kind of job do you have. I don't know what kind of points you are talking about. Love to help, need more info.
In some jobs, you can tell them you have a problem and need help and they will set you up with counseling and give you another chance. That depends on where you live and what kind of job it is though.Good Luck, Capt Rob

Yes there is an appeal process. And no I haven't touched it since then. I failed the test when I was 18. They apply you negative points for every bad thing in your life from car accidents to credit. You can only get 10 and i went over that so I have to appeal. I work for a pop company currently. So I am 28 now, with a wife and daughter. I was a boy and now a man.

The truth of the matter is everyone makes mistakes. The fact that it has been 10 years shows that you have gained life experience as you have aged.
Everyone has broken a law, be it on purpose or on accident. Stuff happens, it is how you handle it.
I don't want to meet the person that is perfect!
I volunteer (not fire related) for a group. One of the big wigs is always preaching that bible and how you need it yet he turns around and cheats on his wife. He is currently getting divorced. Still carries around that bible because he is a better person then me because he is "saved'
I don't mess around on my g/f, I am a mellow guy.
Point being....so you smoked something (illegal) that grows from the ground TEN years ago. Show this department you have moved on!
Good Luck
Remember current and former US Presidents have all admitted to drug use, DUIs Hell, Senator Teddy KILLED Mary Jo and left her dead body in his car turned boat and reported it in the morning.... how long did he serve in Office after that??? like 30-40 years or something?Last edited by 45gggh; 09-25-2012 at 11:35 PM.
