I am currently going through a FF1 academy in Southern California but am looking to move back up North to the bay area at the start of the next calendar year. The situation I have found myself in is that I know very little about the departments in that region.
Can anyone point me towards some departments that have a reserve/auxiliary/volunteer program that would fulfill my FF1 task book?

Not much in the Bay Area proper, mostly glorified ride along programs. North and south Monterey, Santa Cruz, Lake, Sonoma County you start to find volunteer and combo departments, with a handful of reserve / combo departments in Santa Clara, San Mateo, Napa and Marin county.
There used to be quite a few good programs for academy graduates east of the bay area, but with the growth in the central valley I think they have all gone away. Dixon used to have an excellent 2 year "sleeper" program designed to augment staffing and provide the volunteers with their FF1 and D/O certs. As far as I know they eliminated that program years ago as they went to a full time department.
