This is purely speculation but I will try to give some insight on what might be happening. We recently went from 4 to 3 and down to 1 training Captain as of the last month or so. Starting later this month into most of November, we will be having our annual live burn training at the academy. We recently had an email from up above asking for some instructor certified individuals come off of full duty to m-f duty and help out with our burns. My guess is because of this training and the fact we only have one remaining full time training officer, there is no way for them to conduct a hiring process and then an orientation on top of that of which lasts for 8-10 weeks. So yes I believe they were not ready for the posting and HR may have thought otherwise until Fire Admin told them to pull it. I would hope by December they would be ready to test for a hire of January maybe? Who knows. But keep your eyes on the website because it will usually go back up without notice.

When the position is reposted it wouldnt hurt to resubmit. Who knows with HR doing everything, if they will keep the old apps or not. I told the same thing to a medic at the ER the other day who applied the same as you did

Anyone know if this is going to be a quick hiring or will it run out a few months? Just trying to figure out my vacation days at work. I'm getting limited on the amount of time I can request off this year LOL.

i would think start date would be after the new year. We have our lobe burn training starting this monday and that will probably take us into the holidays. But applicants will probably be doing there testing process between now and end of the year. I will see if my Battalion Chief has heard anything when he comes of Kelly Day next week

Any info on the physical test? Is it just the physical agility test? Is gear provided?

I heard today that the number is 9 (from HR).. 21 people ended up testing, 3 quit during the test (did not attempt all 5 stages). To anybody in the process, good luck and hopefully we will be getting a call for interviews
