hey guys, new to this forum. Just trying to get some feedback before I leave this dream behind. Im 26 going to be 27 in a few months. Just recieved my scored from exam 2000. Somehow, Im still not quite sure at the moment, I scored a 92 sitting me at 19xxx. Is there any hope of me getting on through ems or should I try to forget about this and move on? Thanks

Actually unless we push for an age extension, I doubt this dream would be real. I'm in the same boat as bro and I went ahead enrolled in an emt cert program. But in the end it won't help me become a firmen because I'm 27 and the next exam will be given in 2017.
Test 2000
Score 97

Do I stand a chance?

This is kind of what I was gonna say. I will had EMS just had there test for ems in Sept it takes appx a year to get on ems. And then a year on to be able to promote to fire so even if they do the promo exam every two years. You won't be able to take the next promo so it would put you at the 2016 test. Which will put you over age. Because the promo from ems still has the same age restrictions.
I am 23 about to turn 24 and worried about my only having one more chance. Some things came to be and I should be in the EMS class right now but I am not. You can only do what you can control and some of this is just out of our control.RIP Hela

I believe now you can take the promtional exam before having 2 years on ems. But only after you have done 2 years on ems will you be eligible for promotion. In that case I would have a shot only if they were to actually give a promtional exam in 2 years. What does everyone think are the chances of that? As long as I have taken the exam and am on the promotional list before my 29th birthday will I have a chance. Am I correct here?

You are not going to get an age extension, unless you get the NY State legislature to change this. The upper age limit is because of the civil service age for minimum service to retire.
Being in the upper 15,000 I don't see much hope on this list.Stay Safe and Well Out There....
