You post a lot of job openings on here, are you currently employed or what's the story with that?

Yeah that's what these forums are for... just trying to help out other when I see something hasn't been posted. I assume others do the same. I have had my chances, scored #1 on an exam in Texas last October, but my wife decided after I took the test she didn't want to move that far away from her family. Which department do you work for? If it's Hillsborough could you give a little info on the dept?

Cmon dude, if you are gonna apply, at least do some research on the dept. Google them. Talk to one of the guys that works for HCFR. Go visit a station. They will eat you alive in the interview.

(PSST, here's a hint. There is no Truck 10 in HCFR)

I appreciate what you are trying to do, help people out. But you announce every time someone is hiring. If someone doesn't have the drive to do their own research and find out who is hiring then they don't deserve the position. Teamwork is for on the job, but right now its too cut throat trying to find a job to help other people out.

Post any job opening you want. If someone checks the forums that's still doing research. If your a top contender you'll get the job regardless of how many apply. Stay driven and don't make excuses. That's what will land you a job.

Thats not true at all. Most departments first narrow things down by geographical area. Meaning that you could be the top scoring candidate in every field and be the most experienced but because you live outside the county and or city limits you don't even get a call for an interview. I work at a career department now, and I know very well what gets you a job and what doesn't.

Congrats truck10 i work for a career department as well. Doesn't mean you know how every department in Florida is ran. I live outside the county i work for and actually almost all my classmates have landed jobs outside the county we live in.

So what does everyone think of Hillsborough swallowing up the volunteer departments?

I think they would do whatever they needed to, to keep the public as safe as possible. do you think they'll hire the volunteers for the open positions?

That is what typically happens. All the volunteers that meet hiring criteria are usually offered positions. Some will take the job I am sure. Almost all volunteers in Florida volunteer to get experience for a career job after all. But who knows what will happen. We can only speculate. I am sure the guys already hired at HCFR getting the overtime are not complaining about the recent turn of events.

I received my conditional job offer today. I can't wait to be a part of such a great fire dept.
