Our captain went to our chief the other day and wanted him to make a change to our dispatch run card. Basically he didn't want our Engine to be dispatched for "possible heart attack" (dispatch lets us know if CPR is in progress/or pt unconscious).
Our chief's response was "Well I don't want to p*** the guys off" (some want an engine response). Really? My view is that if your to afraid of making people mad (or simply don't want to) with choices that have to be made, then turn your brass in. Making (or not making) choices because your afraid of p***ing people off is poor leadership. I have learned that sometimes your either a good leader or a good buddy not both.
