Thanks! the deadline to apply is actually the 28th.
As far as Oakland is concerned, I spoke to HR this morning and was informed that an out of state driver's license is acceptable at time of application. In regards to the EMT certification, a NREMT certification is acceptable. I am not sure if a state EMT certification is acceptable, did not ask. I Believe you will need National Registry to do reciprocity in California.

Who cares if they accept reciprocate or not. Go ahead and apply. The answer is always no until you ask. I work in Florida as a fire medic, I keep my EMT up, I will be applying to this one.

Washedup,
First off, best of luck with Seattle. I'm curious, have you actually heard something about SF? Or are you just guessing being that its been three years?

I read a number of years ago a comparison between Las Vegas and Oakland (working as a FF in each). It basically said that even though your cost of living is A LOT more, you would still net like a 10K/yr raise. Take that for what you will, but I don't hear a lot of Bay Area firefighters complaining about having to work multiple jobs.
