Ok all,
My squad in Monmouth County, NJ recently used our cold water suits performing rescues in flooded water. Im just looking to find out how/if we would need to send it out to decontaminate it due to the toxins in the water. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
The older style "gumby" suits may need to be professionally decontaminated. Give them a good cleaning and look for areas that are discolored or stained. Neoprene brakes down from exposure to hydrocarbons. The newer style Ice Commanders should be fine with a regular washing. Use dish soap to break down any oils on them, and they should be fine.
