Exchanging Insurances from Boy Scout to Junior Fire Fighter
Hey guys, I am Capt. Sharkbait. First time here =].
I am a 3 year member of my Dept.'s Explorer program. I love it. One problem has arisen.
Over the past year, My crew and I have been on lockdown to what we can do. It is just in that past year that they (my Chiefs) started to enforce the laws that the Boy Scouts of America has. Let me just say that I feel like I am extremely limited to the point where I feel like I am the Department Janitor, not Senior Explorer. Number one thing that I need to change and bring up is switching the insurances. From what I gathered, Juniors are on the same insurance as the firefighters. It takes approval from the town and it may be a piece of work. It is something I am willing to work on through out the Fire Academy (I go in Jan.)
Before I bring it up to the chief, and my crew, I would like to know if this process is possible. My crew are headstrong kids that love there fire department, and we cant do what we need to strive in the field because of severe limitations. I ask you, the Firehouse.com Community, to help me, and give me guidelines to get this task. I don't care if it takes more than a year. I just want my guys and the next batch of kids to have the awesome Junior experience.
-Cheers,
Capt. Sharkbait
