Default Bellevue, WA - Entry Level Fire Fighter

    Just received this email:
The Bellevue Fire Department, part of the Regional Fire Recruitment Consortium, has just informed us that they intend to hold an Entry Level Firefighter Academy in March 2013. They will be pulling a list from PST on/about December 1, 2012. To be included on the city’s list for further consideration, interested applicants must complete all testing with PST by November 27, 2012.

Candidates must have a valid PST written examination AND a valid PST CPAT from January 1 -November 27, 2012.

Upcoming firefighter written exam dates include November 14, 16, & 26.
Upcoming CPAT dates are November 18 & 27.

FYI Bellevue is using the public safety test which public safety just announced they will be changing on Nov 27th (the day after Bellevue is due). The email stated the new test will be "significantly different" then the one we usually see. No more 100% for people that have mastered the PST.

Do you know if they will be using the new test or the old test? Do you know about how many people they are looking to hire? If they use the old test what is the usuall cut off for conducting interviews.

They are using the old test. The new test doesnt start until Nov. 27th and the Cutoff to test for Bellevue is Nov. 26th.

They plan to hire a class for March 2013. Word is 10-15.

    From their website:

"Bellevue Fire intends to hold an Entry Level Firefighter Academy in March, 2013. To be included on the eligible applicant list, interested parties must contact Public Safety Testing (see below) and complete the written exam and the CPAT by November 26, 2012."

I know this might be hard to answer, but what do you think the cut off score will be for the written test?

Depends on how many they want to take to intv. But I reckon cutoff will be anywhere from 95%-98%, based on past experience with other PST dept's. I know Kent for example, just did a test pull a few months back and the cuttoff was 98.something. Hope that helps.

Again depends on the dept. but from my experience with Lynnwood and Tukwila recently, my points weren't added until the first intv.

I took the test yesterday and scored 94.6 - from what I can gather from friends and this forum this is probably below the cutoff.

This was my first time taking the test and I didn't review anything, so maybe I'll do better on my next try.

I took the test yesterday. My first time with the Public Safety test.

I felt like I did great on it. Then I got my score of 85.72% ! How did that happen!? Only thing I can think of is I blew it on the personality questions.

How did everyone else do? Any word on how many they plan to hire?

I'm near the top score. Did anyone else get a call or hear anything more about the hiring numbers?

Bellevue just closed their current list and now is repulling scores from the "new" PST test. You have to have the test completed by the 3rd of September. Good luck.

Anyone have an even semi-educated guess on what score it would take for an oral board here?

Im gonna guess 98% plus. I had a friend hired a few years back with a 99.18% or something like that.
