This may seem a little obvious but for quick estimates during vehicle extrication, more so for stabilization, does anyone have a "cheat sheet" of GVW's for cars, light - heavy trucks, etc?
Thanks in advance.

Rule of thumb for Heavy Vehicles (bus, semi, tri-axel, dumptruck...) would be 20,000# per axel.
Full size SUV's can be guestimated at 6,000#, large Suburbans and Excursions 9,000#
most passanger cars weight in around 4,000#, compacts around 3000#
Here is a link to a USA Today article that compairs weights of vehicles in 2007 vs the 90's. There is a chart. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money...big-cars_N.htm
Thanks Drew that is what I was looking for, I actually had found the same chart today doing a search. My next project is to have some form of reference for heavy equipment; bulldozer, backhoe, skid steer, etc. I have not had much luck so far. Anyone with "rule of thumb" for these would be appreciated.
Contact Ron, took the Vehicle and Machinery Tech Class with him in the Spring at TCC. They had a powerpoint presentation turned into a book on heavy vehicle and machinery, went through all the "D" classes of dozers, gave their weights and strong points, all forms of buses, dump trucks, cement mixers and such. I don't know if TCC would be OK or not with it, but worth a try.
