Looks real, and looks barely used. I sent the seller a message asking where he got it.
I can imagine no circumstances where he would be legitimately able to sell this.

ATF helmet on eBay?

Hard to say. There could have been some circumstance where they bought it on their own due to wanting a particular style or something. The other thing to note is that there is a conspicuous lack of calling it an "alcohol, tobacco, and firearms" helmet. They call it an "ATF" helmet. I suppose that was on purpose in case somebody comes after them they can claim that ATF stands for something else.

If you have a question just call the nearest ATF office and ask if you can possess it

Pretty good price for a Cairns 660C. The "ATF" stickers can be peeled off easy enough, some of the edges are lifting off already. I definitely would not want a baby blue helmet though.

After a quick google search, a guy could make a fake one for about 260 bucks, including a shield.....

Either someone retired with it, or someone got a new one and was able to keep the old. I have a few worn out helmets, they generally don't or aren't supposed to re-issue them. It's not like it's an "official" piece of equipment, it's a helmet with stickers. I'm sure the ATF wouldn't look kindly on someone wearing it as it is, but I don't know that it would be illegal to sell it.

You guys must work around some different ATF people than I do. Nice as hell, but I would have never thought they went anywhere near turnouts. Whenever we need to call them in, they spend most of their time standing way back with their assault rifles at the ready, wearing their designer Ray-bans, and their badge hanging out on the chain around their neck.
