I was uncertain whether AFG applicants needed to show as SAM-visible, so I put that question to the Help Desk, and here's the answer I got back. Applicants are REQUIRED to show their status in the "Information Opt-Out" section as: "I authorize my entity's information to be displayed in SAM's Public Search: YES."
Maybe that's already common knowledge here, but since I was unaware, I thought I'd share. I was originally hoping to spare our departmental email address from a barrage of spam, but here it comes, I guess...

Umm,
i went into SAM to be sure mine was setup correctly and there is another Entity listed in my Entities. It is Slaven Inc. located in Colorado and I am in KY.
I have no idea who this is and I did not do a migrate for them. is this somethjin that shows on all SAM accounts or do i need to contact SAM to figure this out?

My guess is that you need to contact SAM. I didn't see anything like that for either of the departments I work with.

I know you have to be registered in SAM to draw funds if awarded but you do not have to be registered in SAM to receive award consideration correct? Thanks.

Correct, just like CCR it should be done prior to application/award, but it's not an end-all if you aren't at this point. Just highly recommended to complete it sooner than later. In the past with certain requirements people were given the awards and then didn't complete what was needed to execute the award and spend money, so it was forfeited. They don't want that, so even if the 1199A gets posted they probably won't give the official award until the SAMS registration is done. It's pretty easy so no reason not to get it done ASAP.
I'd rather do 100 SAMS registrations than these stupid NJ tax returns for a state I don't have an office in...
