Division Chief

Beginning December 17, 2012 at 9:00 am, the Cimarron Hills Fire Department (CHFD) will be accepting applications and resumes for the position of Division Chief. The CHFD Division Chief position is approximately a quarter-time, exempt position, assigned to a flex work schedule. The position is responsible for overseeing a major division of the CHFD, as well as fulfilling an on-call incident commander response schedule.
The minimum qualifications an applicant must meet at time of application are to be 21 years of age, possess, or be eligible to obtain within 30 days of hire to the position, and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License, possess an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university, accredited Fire Officer I certification, accredited Hazardous Materials Operations certification, previous fire service experience of at least 8 years (volunteer, resident, reserve or career experience applies), previous fire officer experience of at least 3 years (volunteer, resident, reserve or career experience applies), previous experience as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or higher, experience with budgeting, forecasting, and policy creation, and must live within fifteen minutes non-emergent from the Cimarron Hills District.
Selected candidates must obtain NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800, NWCG S130/190, a current Red Card- Arduous, and an accredited Fire Officer II certification within one year of hire.

Candidates will be required to complete a testing process, which may include:
• Tactical assessment with scene size-up, strategy and tactic selection, incident command, and scene safety considerations.
• Interview to include value and character exercises and judgment assessments.
• In-box prioritization assessment to include the prioritization of emergency and non-emergent activities assigned.
• Role-play assessment to include reaction and judgment exercises and community interaction.
• Written assignments to include community and incident document creation & review.
• Wildland Pack Test.
The testing process will be held on February 13 and 14, 2013. (Candidates must attend all dates)

The Cimarron Hills Fire Department Division Chief Quarter-Time position salary for 2013 is $13,978.25 to $16,504.75 in addition to applicable certification add-on stipends. Further information, as well as a position description is available by request.

The current Division Chief opening will be assigned to the Support Services Branch of the CHFD. This branch is responsible for overseeing the organization’s Training Division and Buildings and Grounds Program. The ideal candidate will possess skills in training program management, course delivery, hands-on training scenario management, as well as administrative and incident command skills.
