So here's the situation...
I've been involved in the fire service since I was 16 (explorer) then in a paid on call FF/EMT and volunteer everywhere ive lived. I'm 30 now and I've got a career that pays well but it's not where I want to be.
I'm new (may 2012) to my current volunteer dept but I've made lots of friends in short order. One of my fellow volunteers happens to work for a full time fire dept that will be hiring this year. He has told his chief that I'm interested in applying there and it sounds like the chief wants to meet me.
I've got my associates degree, ill be taking the highest possible cert class my state offers in February and ill be taking the emt class again starting next month.
All of this back story is so that I can ask you guys what I should wear to meet the chief for the first time. It'll be in the form of a station tour/application pickup/meet some shift guys so I'm not sure if the suit and tie would be appropriate???

Suit cannot hurt, unless you have to pull some hose
Go with the suit and tie

Agreed. Dress for success. Wear the suit to show you're serious about the position.

Wear your suit. If you need to do anything physical, throw some work out clothes in the car and you can ask to change. This is your first impression. Make it a good one!

Thanks fellas.
I've always felt that when in doubt overdress. And if you think you under dressed you did and its too late.
Suit and tie it is!
