Well unless I get a call with my POC dept. tonight, last call was a woman in labor, with a risky pregnancy.

Unless I count our dept distributing food to the needy, our last incident was a fire at a charcoal plant a couple weeks ago.

Last call was chest pain and first call was a general weakness. Nothing too exciting.

It was kind of interesting in that the door was jammed. The elevator keys didn't work. Usually once you get a little push on the door they will open. Not this one it was jammed tight. We used the irons and then the Porta-Power to force the door. The mechnism at the top of the door was jammed tight and the Porta-Power took care of that in short order. End result...Person trapped for an hour is freed, elevator door is busted, and elevator out of service.

Last of 2012 was a false alarm couple weeks ago. Paged out as a house fire, turned out that the property owner demolished the old house on the property and tore out all of the trees, put them in a big pile and was disposing of them, which is pretty common in our area. It was also the first official run for our new engine.
As for the first of 2013, who knows when that will be.......

C Shift took care of the last call of the year and also the first call of the year for us. For us our last call of 2012 was a med call and you guessed it the first call of 2013 was also a med call.

My department's last run for 2012 was a transformer on fire. Our first run this year was a house fire that ended up being a double fatality. It was our first fatality in over 20 years. I was at work, but I'm sure our guys did their best, sometimes it is just not good enough. Sad start to the year. I hope it gets better from here.

On my home-town POC department, the last call of 2012 was a Carbon Monoxide alarm going off. Still waiting on the first call.
On my other POC department, last call was during the series of snow storms we had here, couple at home with no power, wife was having breathing trouble and couldn't use her nebulizer. We went out with the ambulance and a plow truck to make sure we could get them out, and then the ambo took them.
First call was an EMS lift assist at 0730 this morning."A fire department that writes off civilians faster than an express line of 6 reasons or less is not progressive, it's dangerous, because it's run by fear. Fear does not save lives, it endangers them." -- Lt. Ray McCormack FDNY
