FDNY To Begin Hiring Convicted Felons?
I didn't realize that the FDNY was having such problems with attracting applicants that they had to start considering convicted felons for employment. Every fire test in my part of the world has about a million applicants for every position being hired.DFW

We aren't. It's the federal judge who deemed the previous 3 tests were discriminatory and put a halt to all hiring until a new exam was developed and administered.
And now in order to make the process "more fair" to individuals who may just so happen to have a felony conviction, a little touched caveat is being invoked. How insulting to the individuals where it is assumed that because of their skin color, that they are more likely to be felons and therefore need to be helped more onto the job.

You're right, that is camouflaged insult to minorities that felony convictions are so common it's hurting recruitment. So in addition to implying that minorities can't read or do math as well as whites, they are now more likely to be felons.
