My 18th birthday is in about 1 week and then I can finally join my local volunteer department. We are family freinds with the assistant chief so he already knows that I will be filling out an application very soon, and told me that he was excited that I was joining. The department is in a rural town in Southern Illinois with about 25 active members. When I turned 16 I called the department asking if there was a Junior program, but they didnt have one so I had to wait and now it has finally come. Sorry, there really is no point in this post, I just wanted to say how excited I was as this has always been a dream of mine.

Thank you for the advice. I've been reading posts on the forum and read something you wrote how about rookies should be seen, but not heard. I will really try to take that to heart, unless someone addresses me.
