Does anyone have information on CPAT tests (not for a particular dept/test but for the public)being offered before May 1, 2013? I know Aims is offering one in Aug and there are weekly tests in Phoenix but really was hoping to avoid the 10 hour trip.
Any information would be appreciated.

With Pikes Peak email CPAT@ppcc.edu that your interested in doing one and when the next one will be. They tent to put them on when they get enough interest.

Just a warning about Phoenix. I don't know who you were possibly thinking of taking it with, but if it's with the National Testing Network, make sure you verify 100% that your department will accept it. I took it there once - they don't issue a card like most agencies. And when I applied to a few departments in Colorado, they didn't accept it because it isn't as recognized here, and they wanted the actual card. They are a completely legitimate agency. It's nothing negative about them, just that they do it differently. But hopefully you'll find one here and won't need to travel. Sometimes Castle Rock does a CPAT for the public in addition to the others mentioned.

I 2nd checking with PPCC and CastleRock FD too. Another option is here. Test date of April 5, and deadline of March 22. A little under 7 hrs according to google maps, but still better than 10hrs.
Good luck to youNothing is as unimpressive as someone who is unwilling to learn.

Thanks for all of the information guys. Elson, I was looking into the National Testing Network. I am currently in the Boulder process and have been invited to interview this month. They require a CPAT prior to May1, 2013. I spoke with the lady who was setting up the interviews and clarified a couple things... One being that I had until May to complete the CPAT and I could still continue with the interview process. I told her I wasn't seeing any test dates in CO prior to May 1 and she said that they did not require the test to be taken in CO.... So.... I was assuming NTN would work but I will verify if i get that far.
Thanks,
