    Default Drills

Does anyone have any drills that go beyond basic skills for more seasoned firefighters?

Right here on the Firehouse.com site, and at Firefighterclosecalls.com, to name two.

It's all basics - it's just a matter of how you combine the skills.
Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.

Because "seasoned" firefighters have never gotten killed by screwing up on the basics?

How do you define "seasoned"? No one is ever seasoned, or salty enough to be beyond basic skills. I'm sure most of us have seen the 20-year guy that looks like a monkey f***ing a football half the time he does anything.

How do you define going beyond basic skills? A lot of the more complex fireground tasks are merely expanding on basics.

Do the basic stuff right, and the harder stuff gets a lot easier.

And sometimes the basics change with new technology as well. Not to mention there's more than one way to skin a cat.
