Question Scott mask, leather neck strap and hood

Hello everyone. I was hoping to get some advice on anyone who uses a leather neck strap with their Scott mask. I have the AV3000 sure seal and recently got a leather neck strap so I could easily hang the mask around my neck when not in use.

The only issue I really have is donning the hood over the clips on the neck strap. I was wondering if anyone uses this combination and how you go about donning your hood with the strap still connected to the mask. When I don my hood with the strap on the outside of the hood it leaves a gap where the neck strap connects to the mask about half an inch or less, should I even worry about that? I know a lot of guys don't even wear hoods.

I need advice about shoelaces... sorry to hijack your thread.

I wouldn't know anything about shoelaces. I've always just used duct tape and never had any problems with them laces coming untied. I've also heard about this fancy new thing called velcro but that's too fancy for me.

Our SOP is to don the hood initially along with the rest of your kit, just not to pull it up over the head, so that when the hood is pulled up when donning the set the neck strap is entirely on the inside of the hood, leaving no gaps.

Of course, we use rubber neck straps, so I'm not sure if heat might be an issue with the leather ones.
