Wondering what you experts think about the AFG award stats. At this point do you think the amount awarded for vehicles will not reach the MAX allowed and the amount awarded for ops will exceed the minimum required...or do you think there will be a lot of vehicle awards in the final rounds?

According to DHS staff at FDIC, there were over 4000 vehicle apps in 2012 and there will only be 100 awards. Don't see that adding up to the 25% mark.

Judging by the numbers unless there is some dough that's identified, the 1199As on trucks were in one shot so if you don't have one now it probably isn't going to bear fruit this year. But anyone that made Peer on a truck is an automatic resubmit for 2013 without hesitation.

Brian why the change in truck funding do you think? I wonder if it has to do with that folks seem to have trouble getting things turned around in a year and afg is tired of dealing with it or just pushing more more bang for the buck?

This has been going on for a number of years now that vehicles have not reached the allowed limit of 25% with funds being divert to the operations side. Vehicles can be funded up to 25% of the appropriation which is not going to happen this year as well.

If you look at the stats the AFG gets more bang for the buck funding the Ops side. For every vehicle awarded equates to 3 ops grants that could have been awarded.

IMHO the fact that vehicles are not being delivered within a year is an issue as well. Folks are not prepared to move forward when the vehicle award is made significantly delaying the bidding process and delivery dates. It can be done; we have a new custom pumper (not an AFG grant) being delivered this week.......that has taken about 10 months from specs to construction.

Brain you are say an automatic resubmit, you are referring to department resubmitting or AFG. I feel you meant department but just want clarification. Thanks

Andy got it, and no, not scheduled for AIT until September. Which will be moving back since AFG isn't opening until August at the earliest, can't be gone when that's open but got 18 months from enlistment to get it done. Odds are will only push it off a month, 4 week school with new classes every 5-6 weeks just about.

Don what has changed to make you feel any different? You did not know for sure two days ago, you only knew that you had gone to peer so by my view... nothing has changed. You made it to peer and just like every year and every applicant, it is a waiting game and you have to keep your fingers crossed If you get rejected, you get rejected. It does not mean that you has a bad application , it only means they ran out of money. Redo your numbers and re-submit . Have a little faith guy! It ain't over till it's over.
