The most realistic scene in the movie:

Adcox: So raise a glass, gents. To funny-looking Tim, and the McCaffrey brothers, who have gotten on each other's nerves and still managed after all these years to still be ****ed off at each other. Gentlemen...

    ALL: F**K YOU.

I've strongly suggested to the wife that she make like Jennifer Jason Leigh and get in the hose bed of our rig but she's still non-compliant.

Tim: How are we supposed to know if the floor is on fire in one of these?
Bull: When the doors open, if it's hot, don't get out.

Bull: When I was a kid, what meant most to me about this job was, no ifs, when somebody called the fire department, and we came. We just showed up. These guys, they just don't know how much I love 'em. You don't leave people hanging. It holds everything up doesn't it? Loyalty. I don't get it. Til death do us part, isn't that what you heard Helen? You go, we go, it's all the same, piece of **** without that isn't it? It's the end of everything.

I loved this movie and still watch it from time to time. Like mentioned before, it is a movie, just a movie, ENTERTAINMENT!! There are a few things that are real like the personalities (we can all equate a guy at the station that matches every single firefighter in the movie), the teasing back and forth, the divorces, the back stabbing, and the budget cutting.

When this came out...(1991) was a fresh firefighter with only a year on. My girlfriend at the time and I saw it in the theater and it was awesome. I even denied making out with her because I didn't want to miss anything!! I know, dumb thing to do now that I look back on it.

Later that evening...we got a structure fire call and all I could think of was how was I going to get the fire to look at me! I think I even heard the music playing in the background as I was running the knob!

Golly, if I could only be as cool as you...

Movies are movies, nothing more. If it doesn't say documentary in front of the title it is nothing more than a story with literary license to change some facts and bend reality.

Oh, thanks for taking a topic that people were having fun with and turning it into another schitt hole. Nice work.

This topic has been inactive since 05/10/2013. Until conrad427 posted today about Backdraft being on right now. Then me asking what channel.

I am not sure what you are acting like, other than a pot stirring troll bringing up a post I made 21 days ago. You were a jerk, I called you on it. You see the problem with your crybaby BS is this was a light hearted topic, started in fun, and you had to come in here all Roger Ebert film critic and schitt in the sink.

sorry fyred. It was on cinamax. I started watching and never checked back to see if anybody wanted to know. While not completely factual as you said, I watched it with my father in law, who is from New Zealand, I had a good time explaining some things to him. You can have a bar in your station in New Zealand. While I don't condone the practice, I had a lot of fun taking advantage of it while visiting last year, and it would make movie night a lot more fun.

It was a movie. Nothing more. Personally, I did not care much for it, but to each his own. The best part, IMHO, was the first response, seeing that old micor in the back, that was kewl. It had a few good parts.

I would not pay to see it, but for free I would watch it.
