All right, I am done with everything but the CPAT. Todays interview went "Well". I could have done better, but I also thought that with all of the testing process. Hopefully a handful of us move on and get that dream job we are all working so hard for. I have been fortunate enough to meet a few of you and can honestly say that SFD has its pick of the cream of the crop. Best of luck and stay positive, and let the waiting game begin.

Good luck to you man! What was the layout of this interview, same as the last two or more of open discussion?

I would say more like the last two structured interviews just a few more questions.

I spent yesterday at live fire training with the current recruit class, who are but a few weeks from hitting the streets. I was very impressed with the in depth level of training, not just at the basic skills level, but in the WHY we do things. understanding why you are doing something as it corresponds to fire behavior, search, etc...GOod stuff.

Talking to the recruit Captain, recruit school will now be 15 weeks up from 13.5

Well done with everything except the CPAT. I guess now it's just a waiting game. Hopefully conditional offers go out on the 16th so it won't be as long as a wait.

Best of luck buddy! I am playing the waiting game as well. I wish we knew how we ranked in all of this, the suspense is going to kill me.

A ranking would be a stress relief for sure.

For this third interview, are the questions still the same for everyone? Or are they tailored to you individually now?

All done with the process just waiting like everyone else. Spoke with HR today, I was told they are down to about 210-215 in the candidate pool, due to DQs and such. They said phone calls for probably start mid June and could go into the first week in July depending upon medicals. Also said that there is a lot of OT within the dept right now and possibly a lot of retirements coming up. Sounds like a good list to be on.

Does anyone know if they contact you if you are DQ'd? That number will drop with those who don't have EMTs, and fail CPAT.

EMT is needed by first day of recruit academy, so I don't think people without it will affect the offers or the list initially

Was that what HR told you during the meeting after the final oral board dirty axe? That only 210-215 people are left in the applicant pool?

Also wondering if you're contacted if disqualified from the hiring process.

Didn't tell me any numbers. Just that EMT certification or proof of course completion is due by first day of recruit school.

Yep, 210-215 ... And kind of sounds like they expect that number to drop a little more. No one said anything about notifications if you are dq'd

    Greetings,

My name is Bill Hicks and I am in my 18th year in the fire service, and currently serve as a fire chief. I am also a doctoral candidate at Eastern Kentucky University and my dissertation topic involves investigating the current status of firefighter reciprocity among the 50 states. I am seeking members of the fire service who may have experience in moving from state to state and seeking reciprocity, or recognition of certification issued by your old state, in a new state. Also, if you came from the military and sought reciprocity for DOD certificates, I would like to hear from you as well. If you have not experienced this, please forward the link below to anyone who you may know that has done this.

For those that have such experiences, I am humbly asking you to give 5 minutes of your time to answer a short series of question found at the link below on your experiences with seeking reciprocity, or recognition when you moved from one state to another, regardless of being paid or volunteer members in your department.

Also at the end of the survey you will have a space to share any experiences you may have had when dealing with reciprocity of fire service certifications in your department and with your state. Also feel free to forward this to any fire service member(s) who you feel would have something to say on the topic.

Your anonymity is protected throughout the process. Just click or copy the link below to begin.

Also, if you would like to share your experiences with me in more depth after taking part in the survey, please leave your email in the beginning of the comments section at the end of the survey.

Does any one know if the CPAT is attended by anyone from Seattle Fire? I know its supposed to be pass/fail but are times looked at at all? GRNFT?

I assume it is not but I just want to be sure. Thanks!

There is no one there in a Seattle fire capacity and the times are not considered it is a pass/fail.
