Default Washington DC Paramedic (non firefighter) questions.

Hello I have recently applied to the Paramedic position single role for DC. I have a few questions that if anyone one could help me out with I would greatly appreciate it.

    1. What is the shift schedule?
    2. Is there be an opportunity to switch to duel role FF/Paramedic and if so is it like a transfer or do you start from square one when applying?
    3. Are the ambulances posted on corners or are you placed at a station?
    4. Lastly what is the work environment like? Not so much interaction with public but more whats the environment within the department like now?

    Thanks!

    1. What is the shift schedule? two 12 hour days and two 12 hour nights with 4 days off
    2. Is there be an opportunity to switch to duel role FF/Paramedic and if so is it like a transfer or do you start from square one when applying? As is appears now yes there is an opportunity to switch to a dual role FF/PM. You do not start from square one when you transition.3. Are the ambulances posted on corners or are you placed at a station? All EMS units run out of Fire Stations.4. Lastly what is the work environment like? Not so much interaction with public but more whats the environment within the department like now? Well as far as the environment goes today you will be loved by all because the agency is in need of Paramedics. Firefighters will love you because this will keep them from having to backfill your position. Apply and take the position if offered it is very rewarding.

    Thanks!
    No problem
