    Default Scott County (KY) Fire Department hiring

    THE SCOTT COUNTY (KY) FISCAL COURT is accepting applications for the position of FIREFIGHTER/EMT. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the protection of lives and property through fire suppression and prevention activities, first responder emergency medical care, and maintenance of fire stations, apparatus, and equipment. Work schedule is 24 hours on duty, followed by 48 hours off duty.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    • Valid driver’s license from current state of residence
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 21 years of age by filing date (August 8, 2013).
    • Valid CPAT card
    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
    • Kentucky Commission on Fire Protection Standards and education career firefighter incentive program (400 hour) certification.
    • Valid Kentucky Emergency Medical Technician certificate.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    • Annual starting pay: $28,708 – $30,039 DOQ.
    • Kentucky Training Incentive: $3,100.00 annually
    • Kentucky Retirement Systems (CERS Hazardous Duty)
    • Competitive benefits, vacation, and sick leave.

    Do I get preference points for my IFSAC certification?

    All new hires in KY are required to have a CPAT card. There will be a couple of opportunities to achieve that certification between now and the end of 2013.
    Preference points are awarded to those who meet the Kentucky Professional Firefighter standards as set by the Kentucky Fire Commission. Candidates from out of state will have to establish reciprocity in order to receive preference points.
    The deadline for submitting your name for inclusion in the process is August 8, 2013.

    Written test is a general knowledge test, followed by an oral interview of those who pass the test. Scores of the written and oral interview are combined to place you on a list for hiring.
    List is good for one year after first person is hired from it.
    1600 hrs. tomorrow (august 8) is deadline!!!
